Gatesman PhotoMaxine Viola Gatesman, age 86, of Clarion, passed on to her Heavenly Home on the morning of June 22, 2017 at Allegheny General Hospital following a period of declining health.

Born on May 31, 1931 in Clarion, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Mildred V. (Young) Beers.

After she graduated from high school, she worked at the G.C. Murphy Company store on Main Street in Clarion where she eventually became a floor manager.

She also worked in medical records for a period of time at the former Beverly Manor on Heidrick Street in Clarion.

Maxine enjoyed doing crafts, crocheting, and knitting. S

he was a talented gardener who loved her flowers and had more plants and flowers in her house than folks could believe!

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Clarion and a long-time Sunday school teacher there and at the First United Methodist Church in Clarion, as well. Her faith was very important to her.

She is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia Morrison, of Clarion, Robin Roberts and husband John, of Cambridge Springs, and Beth Snapp-Ganoe and husband Bud, of Clarion; her nine grandchildren, one in California, one in the United States Navy, and eight in Pennsylvania; six great-grandchildren, three in California and three in Pennsylvania. She is also survived by a brother, William F. “Bill” Beers and wife Sherry, of Erie; an aunt, Betty Woods, of Shippenville; and an extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands, Charles Perry, Charles Peters, and Richard Gatesman; and a son, Charles Allan Perry.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, 715 Main Street, Clarion, PA 16214.

Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery.
