Mayfest Car Show Dedicated to Venus Man

| April 14, 2014

9884728FRYBURG, Pa. – This year’s Fryburg Mayfest Car Show is dedicated to long-time local car enthusiast Bruce Wilson.

“Bandit” (as he was known to the truckers) grew up a diehard Mopar Man on Wilson Road in Venus until his untimely death on October 16, 2013, less than a week before his 61st birthday.

Bruce enjoyed competing in the Chrysler Classic, a Mopar only drag racing point series.

Although he loved cars, he got into trucks and started to mud bogg. His prize monster truck was called “Mopar Manic.”

In addition to building many trucks for himself and other guys in the area, he ran a race/mud bog obstacle course “on the farm” called Venus Raceway. It was a draw for everyone in the area. This was a sport that he was very successful at winning. He has trophies from various states, including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, and New York.

After he was done with mud racing, he started to modify his 1965 Dodge Coronet. His latest venture was rebuilding a 1941 Plymouth Coupe he called “Rat Rod.” This car features the only true “Pistol Grip Shifter,” which amazes many people when they see it.

The Mayfest Car Show is held in the St. Michael’s parking lot located at 18766 State Route 208, Fryburg, Pa.

It will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24.

There is a $3.00 entry fee. No age limit – No judging – Strictly a show.

Dash Plaques will be given as well as door prizes. In previous years, everything from Model T’s to the present were shown.
