Meadville Man Charged in Murder of 80-Year-Old North Carolina Man

IREDELL CO., NC (EYT) – A Meadville man was charged with murder earlier this week in connection with the death of an 80-year-old North Carolina man that occurred over a year ago.

According to a published article on MooresvilleTribune.com 31-year-old Mark Arnold Pinkerton, of Meadville, Pa., has been charged in connection with the death of 80-year-old Hugh Moose, of Iredell County, North Carolina.

According to detectives involved in the case, the murder was “the result of a robbery gone wrong” on January 10, 2017.

Authorities began a nationwide search for Pinkerton and located him in Crawford County, Pa.

Iredell County, North Carolina detectives traveled to Meadville on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, and arrested Pinkerton. He allegedly confessed to killing Moose. In addition, officials stated that they found the suspected murder weapon.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the case, according to sources.

Pinkerton is being held without bond.

According to Mooresville Tribune, around 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2017, Moose called 9-1-1 reporting that he had been shot in his residence. He was dead when emergency responders arrived.
