SLIGO BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — A 38-year-old Sligo man already behind bars in one drug case is now facing additional charges related to a March 7 meth lab bust at his residence.

Goodman Jailed Following Traffic Stop on March 3

According to a criminal complaint filed on March 6 by Clarion-based State Police Trooper Tate, police seized multiple items used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine during a March 3 traffic stop in Clarion Borough.

As a result of the search of the vehicle, Matthew Irvin Goodman, 38, of Sligo, and two other individuals were jailed on drug charges.

Goodman waived charges in that case during an April 25 preliminary hearing.

New Charges Filed Following Meth Lab Bust

Following further investigation, on March 23, Tpr. Tate filed the following additional charges against Goodman at Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey C. Miller’s office:

• Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
• Possession Red Phosphorus, etc. w/ Intent to Manufacture Controlled Substance, Felony
• Operating a Methamphetamine Lab, Felony 2
• Knowingly Possessing Ephedrine, Misdemeanor (6 counts)
• Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2 (2 counts)

According to a criminal complaint filed by Tpr. Tate, the new charges stem from a subsequent search that was conducted following an interview with an informant.

The criminal complaint states that a search was executed by the Pennsylvania State Police Clandestine Laboratory Response Team (CLRT) at Matthew Goodman’s Front Street residence and methamphetamine lab items were discovered.

The following items were found during the search:

– two spent “one-pot” cook vessels
– a plastic container with unknown liquid
– a funnel with white residue
– two small plastic containers with white residue
– tools and a butter knife with white residue
– a plastic container with white prill
– coffee filters
– a mason jar with dried white residue
– a red cooler containing a gallon can of camp fuel
– Liquid Lightning drain cleaner
– a piece of tubing with a pop bottle cap attached to it

The above items are commonly used for “gassing the methamphetamine” during the manufacturing process, according to the criminal complaint.

Investigators also found a .22 caliber rifle in the same closet where they located the one-pot vessels. Additionally, a letter of indicia in Goodman’s name was located in a desk drawer.

According to the criminal complaint, a search of a vehicle located next to Goodman’s residence yielded the following items also associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine:

– stripped Energizer lithium batteries
– empty Dollar General cold compress packets
– used coffee filters saturated with unknown acidic liquid. Two of the coffee filters were labeled “Jamie” and appeared to have residue on them.
– an empty quart plastic bottle of camp fuel
– one plastic bottle with unknown liquid
– one uncapped bottle with residue in it

The items were transported to the Clarion-based State Police barracks where they were logged into evidence.

Goodman remains lodged in the Clarion County Jail on $15,000.00 cash bail.

He is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
