Michael A. Rodemoyer, 50, of Cooperstown, lost his courageous battle with cancer on November 19, 2017, at 6:30 a.m. at UPMC Northwest in Seneca, with his wife at his side.

Born July 21, 1967, in Franklin, Michael was the son of Robert W. and Vicki B. Bell Rodemoyer.

He served 4 years in the United States Marine Corps in the Motor Transportation Department.

Michael was a 1985 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. He obtained his teaching degree from Huntington University in 1996, and his Science Education degree from Clarion University in 2008.

Mr. Rodemoyer was a 3rd-grade Elementary Teacher at Central Elementary School in Franklin. He considered the children and staff as his “second family”; and loved to coach school sports and encourage and support all the children.

Michael also was a very active member of the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren in Christ Church where he taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir.

He especially cherished his children and family. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite basketball team, the “Tarheels” of North Carolina. He also enjoyed watching professional wrestling, and hunting.
Michael is survived by his wife, Melissa; and his children, Dylan, Lauren, and Alexis Rodemoyer, all of Cooperstown.

He is also survived by his father, Robert W. Rodemoyer, of Franklin; his sister, Melinda Covington, of Franklin; and his brother, Robert W. Rodemoyer, Jr., of Franklin.

He is additionally survived by his sisters-in-law, Michele Mansfield of Polk and Deena Smith of Oil City; his father-in-law, Delbert Smith, of Franklin; his nieces and nephews, Zachariah Beers, Rilee Hanna, Alex Holmes, Mariah Rodemoyer, Noah Covington, and Camryn Covington; and his great-niece, Paislee Rodemoyer.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Vicki Rodemoyer in 2014; his mother-in-law, Carol Smith, in 2013; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Family and friends are invited to visit the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Tuesday, November 21 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren in Christ Church, with Rev. Brad Riddle, pastor of the church, officiating.

Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren in Christ Church, 160 Atlantic Avenue, Franklin PA 16323; or to Central Elementary PTO, 1276 Otter Street, Franklin PA 16323.
