michaelMichael Clifford Burkett, 78, of Reno, passed away at 8:25 a.m. at his residence on Thursday, June 15th.

Born May 28, 1939 in McKeesport, Michael was the son of the late James and Evelyn Uhlig Burkett.

He was an Air Force Veteran and was a member of the Oil City National Guard. Prior to his retirement, Michael was an Firefighter in Livermore, CA.

Mr. Burkett was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Livermore, CA and also the Lamb of God Church in Lake Havusue, AZ.

In his spare time he enjoyed baseball, hunting with his brothers, boating, fishing, water sports, and gardening. He especially cherished the time he spent with his family.

Michael is survived by his son, Michael C. Burkett, Jr.; his daughter, Denise Burkett-Garrigan; his 5 grandchildren, Brittany Burkett, Jessica Garrigan, Jake Garrigan, Savanah Burkett and Chase Burkett; and his 3 great-grandchildren, Porter Bassett, Zander Bassett, and Shamus Garcia.

He is additionally survived by his 10 brothers, Jim Burkett, Pete Burkett, Ed Burkett, Danny Burkett, George Burkett, Rich Burkett, John Burkett, Chris Burkett, Patrick Burkett, and Fred Burkett; and his 4 sisters, Joey Sistine, Mary Aliabadi, Kathy Urbon, and Evie Cope.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Delores “Dodie” Yanke Burkett.

Family and friends of Mr. Burkett will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Saturday, June 24th from 10 a.m. until 12:00 noon.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon at the Funeral Home following visitation with Rev. Mark Rusnak, AseraCare Pastor, officiating.

Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the Oil City Moose following the funeral service.
