spenceMichele M. Spence, 64, of 130 Terrace Rd., St. Marys, died Friday, March 27, 2015 at the UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh after an illness of the past several months.

She was born Feb. 6, 1951 in Oil City, daughter of the late Paul J. and Eileen B. Eisenmen Fletcher.

She was a graduate of Venango Christian High School and Carlow College in Pittsburgh where she received a B.S. in Nursing. She also received a M.Ed. from Lock Haven University. Mrs. Spence previously worked as a staff nurse at the Elk Regional Medical Center and the Community Nurses of Elk and Cameron Counties. She served as a teaching assistant in the Nursing Department at Carlow College, Pennsylvania State University, and the University of Pittsburgh. She was currently employed as the school nurse at the Ridgway Area Middle-High School.

On July 7, 1973, in St. Michael’s Church in Fryburg, she married Jeffrey T. Spence, who survives.

Mrs. Spence was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, the National Association of School Nurses, and PSEA. She loved to garden and read in her spare time, and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Peter F. Spence and his wife Monica of Elizabeth, Michael J. Spence and his wife Pamela of Carlisle, and Patrick A. Spence and his wife Crystal of Gibsonia; five grandchildren, Jackson Spence, Daniel Spence, Caroline Spence, Grant Spence, and Bentley Spence; two sisters, Paulette Colantonio and her husband John of Fern, and Claire Cunningham and her husband Robert of Oil City; four brothers, Michael Fletcher and his wife Rosemary of Olney, Md., Patrick Fletcher and his wife Ruth of Denver, Colo., Kim Fletcher and his wife Marie of Shippenville, and Paul Fletcher Jr. and his wife Brenda of Parker, Colo.; and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Michele M. Spence will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, April 1 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, March 31 from 5-8 p.m.
