Mildred J. Finch

Mildred J. Finch, 100, of Franklin, passed away at 5:15 A.M. on Tuesday December 26, 2017 at Sugar Creek Station.

Born September 27, 1917 in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Ada Thomas Swavey.

She was graduate of Franklin High School.

Mildred worked for many years as a Cafeteria worker in the Franklin Area School District.

She was a woman of faith and a lifelong member of the Oak Hill United Methodist Church.

Mildred had a servant’s heart and loved to volunteer for many local organizations; including, The Caring Place, Visiting Nurses Association and the hospital. She also enjoyed delivering meals on wheels with her late husband.

She enjoyed knitting and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate and Steelers fan.
For 17 years, Mildred and her husband traveled to Florida for the winters enjoyed many fond times there.

Above all, Mildred loved her family and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was very proud of the fact that she made it to her 100th Birthday milestone.

On September 12, 1937 she married Robert D. Finch and he preceded her in death on April 5, 1998.

Surviving are three children; Gary Finch and his wife Norma, Dennis Finch and his wife Linda, and Kriste Strawbridge and her husband John; a daughter in law, Darlene Finch; a brother, Dick Swavey 10 grandchildren, Jina Gaddess and her husband Kevin, Robert T. Finch, and his wife Tina, Lori Byler and her husband Mike, Greg Finch, Kelly Nicolino and her husband Joe, Amy Ensley and her husband Aaron, John M. Strawbridge and his wife Jennifer, Jeffery Strawbridge and his wife Carilyn, Joshua Strawbridge and his wife Lindsey and Jennifer Hunt and her husband Douglas.

Additionally surviving are 21 great grandchildren; Jessica Bergin, Alex Finch, Ashley Finch, Scott Finch, Sarabeth Gaddess, Sammiejean Gaddess, Morgan Nicolino, Macy Nicolino, Joey Nicolino, Haley Marthey, Hannah Marthey, Cloie Ensley, Pheebie Ensley, Alex Strawbridge, Tylor Strawbridge, Issac Strawbridge, Madeline Strawbridge, Ryan Strawbridge, Emily Hunt, Amelia Hunt, and Evelyn Hunt and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a son Robert J. Finch, a sister, Lois Sloss, and an infant brother, Frederick Swavey.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where family and friends are welcome from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday and 12:00 – 1:00 P.M. Friday.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial donated may be made to Sugar Creek Station 351 Causeway Dr. Franklin, PA 16323, Oak Hill United Methodist Church 10 Adams St, Franklin, PA 16323, or to the Venango County Meals on Wheels Program.
