CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — The child endangerment case involving a three-year-old girl who left a Seneca residence after her mother passed out from mixing alcohol and anxiety medication is moving forward.

According to court documents, the following charge against 23-year-old Breann Shaw, of Seneca, was waived for court on Wednesday, January 9:

– Endangering Welfare of Children — Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Felony 3

The charge has been transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

Shaw remains free on $15,000.00 unsecured bail.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 7:30 p.m. on December 31, Trooper Cirell, of Franklin State Police, was dispatched to Pin Oak Village in Cranberry Township, Venango County, for a three-year-old girl, outside in the rain with no coat or shoes.

Upon Trooper Cirell’s arrival at the scene, he spoke with two known individuals who related that they discovered the girl out in the rain. One of the individuals related that he recognized her from the upstairs apartment.

Trooper Cirell went to the apartment and discovered Breann Shaw unconscious on her couch. After several attempts at waking her up, Shaw finally came to but was highly disoriented, the complaint states.

Trooper Cirell asked Shaw if she knew where her daughter was, and she tapped her left hip as if she felt her daughter was still sitting on her lap.

Shaw then stood up and struggled to walk straight as she went to her porch to look for her cell phone.

It was observed that Shaw’s speech was slow and slurred.

During the interview, Shaw went into the bathroom for approximately 15 minutes. Trooper Cirell knocked on the door to inquire if she was okay. Shaw then opened the bathroom door as she was on the toilet and responded that she was fine.

Trooper Cirell asked Shaw if she had taken anything earlier that day, and she said she took her “anxiety medication.” She also said she drank a “half a case of beer” after taking her medication, according to the complaint.

Shaw was arraigned at 11:30 a.m. on January 1 in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office.
