Monday Softball Roundup: Cranberry 10 Runs Union

SENECA, Pa. (D9Sports) – Natalie Barcinas went 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored and Malliah Schreck was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs to help Cranberry to an 11-1, five-inning win over visiting Union.

Winning pitcher Andrea Watson added an inside-the-park home run, was hit by a pitch, scored twice and drove in one, while Rachel McCauley was 2-for-2 with a triple, a walk, a run scored and an RBI.

Watson went five innings allowing one unearned run on one hit and one walk while striking out seven.

Jada Zitzman was 1-for-2 with an RBI for Union. Morgan Cumberland took the loss.

A-C VALLEY SWEEPS BY CLARION-LIMESTONE

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – A-C Valley swept a doubleheader at Clarion-Limestone winning by scores of 12-9 and 11-9.

In the first game, Emily Wetzel and Cami McNany were both 4-for-5 for the Lady Falcons with Wetzel picking up a triple, an RBI and four runs scored and McNany hitting a two-run home run and a double while scoring four times and driving in two. Kylee Eaton was also 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI with Syd Schmidt going 2-for-4 with a run scored and Andrea Meal 2-for-5.

Sadie Mahle was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored for C-L with Abby Carll going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI and Megan Schimp going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.

Wetzel got the win going 5 ⅓ innings allowing eight runs, two earned. She walked four and struck out four. Schmidt got the save, while Megan Stahlman took the loss.

In the second game, Wetzel was 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored for A-C Valley with Means going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Brogan Armagost was also 1-for-3 with a triple, a run scored and two RBIs and McNany was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Karleigh Aaron helped pace C-L going 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs. Stahlman was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI and Liz Gruver was 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and a run scored.

Schmidt picked up the win going the distance allowing nine runs, seven earned. She walked eight and struck out two.

Cassidy Makray took the loss pitching six innings allowing 11 runs. She walked four and hit a pair of batters.

MONITEAU 13, FOREST AREA 0, 5 INNINGS

MARIENVILLE, PA. – Amanda Dailey and Lexi Miller combined to drive in seven runs to help visiting Moniteau to a 13-0, five-inning win over Forest Area at East Forest.

Dailey was 2-for-4 with a triple, a walk, three runs scored and four RBIs with Miller going 3-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs.

Also for the Lady Warriors, Dolcey Shunk scored four times while going 2-for-4 with a double, two walks and two RBIs, Megan Hepler was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, Cassidy Claypoole was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored, Courtney Stewart was 2-for-4 with a double and Madison Clark was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Stewart got the win giving up one hit while striking out five in five innings of work.
