Monday’s Baseball Roundup: Franklin, Oil City Have Tough Go on the Road

GREENVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin couldn’t hold an early 2-0 lead dropping a 4-2 road decision to Greenville Monday.

The Knights led 2-0 after a half-inning but Greenville used a three-run fourth to pick up the win.

Connor Rakow stayed hot for Franklin with three hits, while Brendon Gordon had two hits. Austin Rhoads and Zach Baughman had the RBIs for the Knights.

Kolton Banfi took the loss going four innings allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits and two walks.

SLIPPERY ROCK 11, OIL CITY 1, 6 INNINGS

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Dylan Dingel used his bat and his arm to lift Slippery Rock to an 11-1, six-inning win over visiting Oil City.

Dingle drove in two runs while picking up three hits in the win while also allowing just a run on four hits over six innings on the mound. He struck out nine.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 10, FOREST AREA 0, 5 INNINGS

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. — Cole Grenci had a pair of hits, a run scored and an RBI to help Clarion-Limestone to a 10-0, five-inning win over visiting Forest Area in the season opener for the Lions.

Curvin Goheen added a 1-for-2 day with an RBI and two runs scored in manager Todd Smith’s debut. Ben Smith added a double and a run scored.

C-L used four pitchers.

Christian Smith started and went two innings allowing a hit while striking out two. Goheen went an innings allowing two hits while striking out one. Hayden Callen pitched a scoreless inning walking one and striking out two and Ian Hawthorn walked one in an inning of relief.

Daniel Schwab, Chris Pedersen, Aiden Quinn had hits for Forest Area.
