Monday’s High School Baseball Roundup: Oil City Rallies Past Titusville

MERCER, Pa. (EYT) – Brady Wilson, Tyler Knupp, Scott Perry and Hunter Bruner combined for 13 RBIs, as visiting Rocky Grove rolled past Mercer, 16-0 in four innings.

Perry hit a pair of home runs and was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Wilson went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double while scoring twice and driving in four.

Knupp had a double and finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBIs.

Bruner was 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs.

Scott Wilson added a 2-for-2 day with a double, three runs scored and an RBI.

Conner Curran got the win allowing one hit and two walks while striking out two.

OIL CITY 10, TITUSVILLE 8

OIL CITY, Pa. – Colby Rybak went 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs to lead Oil City to a 10-8 win over visiting Titusville.

Matt Caldwell also had three hits for the Oilers, including a double, and drove in a run, while Shane Ruby was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs.

Also driving in two for Oil City, which rallied from a 7-0 deficit after an inning and a half, was Jacob Schwab, who was 1-for-4 with a run scored, and Dylin Chaplin was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Logon Nosko had three RBIs for Titusville while having two hits, including a double. James Johnson also added a pair of hits with a double, Matt Leach had two hits and three runs scored and Brian Clark a pair of hits.

Ruby got the win in relief allowing four runs, three earned, on eight hits and two walks while striking out six in six innings of work.

SLIPPERY ROCK 3, FRANKLIN 2

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock scored single runs in the fifth and the sixth innings to inch past visiting Franklin, 3-2.

Kyle Benson and Ricky Mineo each had a double for the Rockets with Benson adding an RBI. Also driving in a run for Slippery Rock was Gunner Becker.

Alex Billingsley had a double and a run scored for Franklin, while Nate Emerson was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Trey Weaver 2-for-4. Brendon Gordon chipped in an RBI as well.

Mineo got the win in relief going 3 1/3 innings allowing two hits while striking out one.

Kolton Banfi took the loss allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits and a walk in two innings of relief. Ian Haynes started and gave up a run on four hits and a walk in four innings of work.

KARNS CITY 12, A-C VALLEY 0

EMLENTON, Pa. – Stephen O’Donnell hit a home run and drove in two runs while scoring three times to lead Karns City to a 12-0 win at A-C Valley.

O’Donnell was 2-for-3 on the day and was one of five Gremlins with two RBIs on the day.

Also driving in two for Karns City were Colton Hutchison (1-for-3, 1 run), Tyler Yough (2-for-3, 1 run), Jacob Weckerly (1-for-4, 1 run) and Jace Ebbitt (1-for-3, 2 runs).

Markus Lantz and Jimmy Thompson also added doubles for the Gremlins with Lantz going 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI and Thompson 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Thompson tossed a three-hit shutout. He went seven innings and walked three while striking out seven.

Jeff Ginn was 2-for-3 to pace A-C Valley.

Austin Kriebel took the loss going five innings allowing seven runs, all earned, on six hits and two walks while striking out six.

Karns City led 8-0 going the seventh before adding four more in the seventh to set the final score.
