Monday’s High School Baseball Roundup: Perry Homer in 12th Lifts Rocky Grove Past Lakeview

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – Travis Perry hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to lift Rocky Grove to a 9-8 win over visiting Lakeview.

The game had been knotted at eight since the seventh when Lakeview forced extra innings with a three-run inning. The Sailors trailed 8-3 going to the sixth but scored twice in the sixth before tying things up in the seventh.

Perry’s home run was his second hit of the game, as he went 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

Connor Curran also went deep for the Orioles and finished 2-for-6 with two RBIs and a run scored. Josh Kirwin added a pair of RBIs as did Scott Wilson. Kirwin was 2-for-5 with two runs scored and Wilson was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

OIL CITY 7, SHARON 6

OIL CITY, Pa. – Oil City rallied from a 6-0 deficit after three innings to pick up a 7-6 win over visiting Sharon.

The Oilers, who gave up a five-spot in the first, got a run back in the fourth before scoring six times in fifth to take the lead.

Josh Puleo was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for Oil City with Sawyer Manning going 2-for4 with a run scored. Dylan Chapin added a double, an RBI and two runs scored, and Caden Highfield drove in a pair of runs.

SHARPSVILLE 11, FRANKLIN 5

FRANKLIN, Pa. – Visiting Sharpsville rapped out 14 hits on its way to an 11-5 win over Franklin, who scored three of its runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Justin Docherty had three RBIs for the Knights, while Trey Weaver was 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored andn an RBI. Brendon Gordon also had a double and scored twice.

CLARION 4, CRANBERRY 1

SHIPPENVILLE, Pa. – Reed Anthony threw a two-hit gem to lead Clarion to a 4-1 win over visiting Cranberry at the Clarion County Park.

The lefty Anthony needed 94 pitches to go the distance. He walked one and struck out five while giving up an unearned run.

Sterling Conner, Nate Datko and Josh Craig had RBIs for the Bobcats.

Nolan Brannon drove in Cranberry’s lone run. Brannon took the loss going 3 ⅔ innings giving up four runs, two earned, on two hits and five walks while striking out three.

REDBANK VALLEY 12, A-C VALLEY 3

OAK RIDGE, Pa. – Grayson Harman and Jonah Henry both went deep to help Redbank Valley to a 12-3 win over visiting A-C Valley.

Harman was 1-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and four RBIs for the Bulldogs with Henry going 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Bryan Layton and Scott Toth both added doubles for Redbank. Layton was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI and Toth was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Nick Smith also had a pair of hits and a run scored.

Lucas Larimore had a pair of RBIs for A-C Valley, while Aaron Busch added a double and an RBI.

Blaney Brooks got the win in relief of Layton. He went 2 ⅔ innings allowing three runs on five hits while striking out three. Layton pitched three innings not allowing a hit while walking one and striking out six. Harman finished off going 1 ⅓ innings not allowing a hit nor a walk while striking out one.

Austin Kriebel took the loss going two innings allowing four runs, three earned, on three hits and two walks while striking out one.
