Monday’s Softball Recaps: Schmidt Fielder’s Choice Gives A-C Valley Comeback Win Over Moniteau

WEST SUNBURY, Pa. (D9Sports) – Sydnie Schmidt’s fielder’s choice in the top of the eighth inning scored Kylee Eaton from third to lift A-C Valley to a come-from-behind, 11-10, win over Moniteau.

Eaton led off the eighth by reaching on an error and moved to third before scoring on the grounderby Schmidt.

The Lady Falcons trailed 10-6 going to the sixth but scored three times in the sixth to get within a run before tying the game in the top of the seventh when Emily Wetzel led off with a bunt single, stole second and then third and was driven home by Syd Rankin.

Wetzel was 3-for-4 in the game with a home run, a walk, four runs scored and two stolen bases. Schmidt had a pair of RBIs while going 1-for-4 with two runs scored with Meals going 3-for-5 with a double, Cami McNany 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored, Kelsie Terwilliger 2-for-4 with an RBI and Rankin 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

Amanda Dailey paced Moniteau going 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs. Abby Rottman was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, Taylor Schultz was 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, Breanna Noah was 1-for-5 with two RBIs and Megan Hepler was 1-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored, and RBI and two walks.

Wetzel got the win in relief going 3 ⅓ innings allowing no runs and a walk while striking out two. Courtney Stewart took the loss.

ROCKY GROVE 15, FARRELL 11

FARRELL, Pa. – Lydia Peterson had two hits and two RBIs to help Rocky Grove to a 15-11 win at Farrell.

Peterson doubled and tripled while going 2-for-6 with two runs scored for the Orioles.

Addie Patton also was 2-for-5 with three RBIs and three runs scored for Rocky Grove and Courtnee McMullen went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.

CLARION-LIMESTONE 12, FOREST AREA 2, 6 INNINGS

STRATTANVILLE, Pa. – Megan Stahlman was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a walk and two runs scored to lead Clarion-Limestone to a 12-2 six-inning win over Forest Area.

Cassidy Makray also drove in a pair of runs and scored once for the Lady Lions with Sadie Mahle, Liz Gruver and Brooke Baughman each scoring twice.

Stahlman got the win going six innings allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits while striking out eight.

Makiya Bellotti was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

REDBANK VALLEY 18, OIL CITY 3, 6 INNINGS

OIL CITY, Pa. – Trailing 3-2 going into the top of the fourth inning, Redbank Valley exploded for 16 runs in its final three at-bats for an 18-3 win in six innings at Oil City.

The Lady Bulldogs went up for good on Sami Leasure’s three-run homer in the fourth, then they scored seven runs in the fifth and six more in the sixth inning to put the game away.

Brooke Holben led the 21-hit attack, going 5-for-5 with three runs scored two runs batted in and a double. Lauren Smith and Kristen Shaffer each had three hits while Leasure, Dakota Hetrick, Kaia Rearick and Becca Kunselman each had two hits.

Hetrick threw all six innings, allowing six hits while striking out two and not walking a batter.

All three of Oil City’s runs came on Emily Goughler’s homer in the bottom of the third to put the hosts up 3-2.
