Moon Announces Candidacy for Re-Election as Oil City Mayor

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – William P. Moon Jr. has announced his candidacy for a second term as Mayor of Oil City.

A lifelong resident and 1980 graduate of the Oil City Senior High School and Oil City Vocational Technical School, Moon is a co-owner and broker at Gates & Burns Realty, Inc. in Oil City, Franklin, and Clarion, along with his father,

Moon is very active in the community, a former Oil City Councilman, a former member of the Oil City Zoning Board, a former Vice President of Venango County Council for Government (COG). He was trained by PSAB (PA State Association of Boroughs) to run City Government.

He is also an active member in the following boards: Venango County Economic Development, Venango County Land Bank, Venango County Planning Commission, Board Member of ORA, National Association of Realtors, Pennsylvania Association of Realtors, Allegheny Valley Board of Realtors, 2011 Realtor of the Year, Director of the Venango County Association for the Blind, Member of the Oil City Main Street Design and Promotions Committee, Member of the Oil City Arts Council and First Night Committee, and Member of the Southside Neighborhood Association.

Moon is married to Robin J. Moon with two adult children, William P. Moon III of Erie, and Rebecca A. Stephens of Austin, Tx.

“As Mayor of Oil City, I will continue my six main priority goals for Oil City Council: increase economic development and redevelopment, enhance financial sustainability, invest in community infrastructure, improve the City’s image, increase quality of life for our residents, and live within the City’s budget and keep the taxes low,” Moon stated.

“As a small business owner in Oil City, I have a vested interest in my hometown and community to prosper in the years to come. So, on November 5, ‘Shoot for the Moon’ and re-elect William P. Moon Jr. as Mayor of Oil City. I thank you for your support.”
