VENANGO CO. Pa. (EYT) — Snow lovers aren’t rejoicing.

Cross country skiers, snowmobilers, snowman makers, well better luck next winter.

This is the second straight winter that snow has been sporadic and hasn’t lasted long even when it did accumulate.

For the school bus drivers, those who have to shovel their driveways, or individuals who have lengthy commutes for work can’t be complaining about a winter like this.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, temperatures in the region are running, on average, 10-15 degrees above normal.

“But we still have more cold air to come,” said John Darnley, a Hydro Meteorological Technician with the NWS in Pittsburgh.

In Franklin, it has received about 5 inches of snow. Its February average is 9.1 inches. In March, the average is 9.4.

In Tionesta, it has had 8.1 inches of snow in February. The average is 10.2. In March, the average snowfall total is 7.7 inches.

The forecast in Venango County for the next several days shows no likelihood of measurable snow.

Temperatures are expected to drop late Saturday with a 30 to 40 percent chance of snow showers.
