CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say around 4:00 p.m. on October 11, a motorcyclist was injured on State Route 322, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

According to police, 73-year-old Vernon J. Weaver, of Oil City, and 24-year-old Anne M. Armstrong, of Franklin, were involved in the collision.

Police say Weaver was traveling east on an outer travel portion of the parking lot at the Cranberry Mall on Route 322 and Armstrong was traveling south through the parking lot to the outer travel lane.

Armstrong’s 2001 Toyota Camry began to cross into the travel lane to go left, when she noticed Weaver’s 2008 motorcycle stopped prior to the double yellow lines, according to police.

At this point, the Toyota was directly in front of Weaver’s motorcycle. Weaver looked to his left, saw the Toyota, and then lost control of his vehicle. The motorcycle fell to its right side and slid approximately 30 feet to its final rest, police say.

Weaver was wearing a helmet, according to police.

Community Ambulance Service transported him to UPMC Northwest for injuries of unknown severity
