Motorist Injured in Two-Car Crash on Route 417

SUGARCREEK BORO, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin State Police say around 5:32 p.m. on November 17, 2012, a two-car accident occurred on State Route 417 in Sugarcreek Boro, Venango County, Pa.

According to police, 28-year-old Gary A. Groger, Jr. of Franklin was traveling south on Rocky Grove Avenue (SR 417) in a 2011 Nissan Versa, became distracted, and failed to observe a 2011 Acura RDX operated by 51-year-old Courtney L. Cox of Franklin who was stopped in the southbound lane behind traffic.

Police say the front of the Nissan impacted the rear of the Acura and both vehicles came to rest in the southbound lane facing south.

Groger was using a seat belt; he was transported to UPMC Northwest.

The severity of his injuries are unknown.

Cox was also using a seat belt and was not injured.

Groger was cited for careless driving.

Community Ambulance and Lowry’s Towing assisted at the scene.
