myrtle_steeleMyrtle Steele, 90, of Strattanville, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Clarion Hospital.

She was born on October 14, 1926 in Sacramento, CA; daughter of the late Myrtle Davis.

Myrtle married Clair W. Steele on March 22, 1942, who preceded her in death on November 7, 2007.

She worked in the Cafeteria at the Clarion Limestone High School, she also worked at the former Quaker Market in Clarion, and she had her own Cake Baking business that she really enjoyed doing and a lot of people will miss her cakes.

Myrtle was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarion and also of the Roseville Grange.

She enjoyed mowing her yard with her John Deer Tractor, Flower Gardening, watching the Steelers, also watching her grandchildren’s sporting events, spending time with her family, and also enjoyed spending time with her great niece, Pam Brinkley.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Gilligan and her husband Joseph of Limestone, a son, Richard Steele and his wife Jan of Watsontown, and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Steele of Strattanville, seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and her cat, Dexter.

Myrtle is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Mumford of Brookville, and a number of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother, husband, her three children Larry Steele, Susan Shick, and Michael Steele, three grandchildren, Todd and Eric Farley and Michael Steele four sisters, Mary, Delena, Margret, and Carol, and one brother, William.

Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2016 at the First Baptist Church with Funeral Services following at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jason Hunter, pastor presiding.

Interment will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery in Corsica.
