Myrtle HooksMyrtle V. Hooks, 96, of Tidal, PA, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Edgewood Heights in New Bethlehem.

She was born August 10, 1920 in Tidal, the son of Enos and Nora (Helm) Delacour.

Myrtle was a lifelong resident of Tidal and was a former member of Tidal Presbyterian Church. She formerly worked as a clerk at the G. C. Murphy store in Kittanning for 15 years and was a hard worker in all aspects of her life.

She was also self-sufficient and frequently repaired things herself.

Myrtle was a talented musician who could still play the keyboard and, for many years, played in the band “The Silhouettes” with her two sons.

Sewing, crocheting and deer hunting were some of her other favorite hobbies.

For 26 years she spent her winters in Florida and in her group of friends was known as the “Shuffle Board Queen.”

She loved camping with her family and also enjoyed competing in the family cornhole tournaments. Myrtle will be best remembered for being a big part of her family members’ lives.

Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren, Lisa C. Schiebel and husband, Zane, of Butler, LeAnne R. Rankin and husband, Don, of New Bethlehem, and Lanette T. Cicciarelli and husband, Lance, of Rimersburg, Weston Crawford and wife, Karen, of New Bethlehem, Curtis Hooks, of Louisiana and Christopher Hooks, of Texas; great-grandchildren, Landon, Lanae and Lane Cicciarelli, Brittney, Brenden and Brianna Schiebel, Kendra Minnick, Karina Libecco, Kord Rankin, and Nicole, Abbey and Adeline Crawford; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Lorilee Hooks, of Rimersburg.

Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, William B. Hooks, who died July 15, 1982; second husband, George Lagler, who died March 15, 1995; companion of 15 years, Dalton Raraigh; sons, Chester D. Hooks, who died in 2001, and Carroll W. Hooks, who died in 2015; one infant son; grandson, Brett Alan Hooks, who died in 1973; great-granddaughter, Kessa Beckwith, who died in 2013; brothers, Merle and Vern Delacour; and sisters, Florence McGinnis, Mabel Beatty and Jean Billheimer.

Relatives and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 758 Main Street, Rimersburg.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Milliron officiating.

Burial will be in Tidal Cemetery, Tidal, PA.
