Nancy North Pitts, 78, Walnut Street, Brookville, Pa., died on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at home.

Born in Brookville on February 8, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Robert C. and Aileen Fulton North.

Nancy was married to Richard J. Pitts Oct. 20, 1955. He survives.

She was a 1952 graduate of Brookville Area High School and attended Indiana College and Penn State University. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from Clarion College and later earned her master’s degree.

She taught third grade at Mapleview School in the Punxsutawney Area School System for 22 years, retiring in 1993.

Nancy was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 65 years and was also a member of Alpha Delta Kappa and the Pincecrest Country Club.

She is also survived by three children: Lindsay (William Douglas) Hanna of Brookville, Richard C. (Crystal) Pitts of Altoona and Susan (Rodney) Osborne of Brookville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Pitts Shriver; two brothers, Robert C. North Jr. and John A. North; and a sister, Molly North Baughman.

A private service will be held by the family Monday at McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville. Burial will be in Brookville Cemetery.
