Nancy S. Stover, 59, of Fullerton, California, wife of a former Knox resident, passed away from brain cancer on June 12, 2019.

She was the daughter of Ethel C. and Elliott R. Jones and was born in West Chester. She grew up in Coatesville, where her father worked for Lukens Steel Company.

Nancy met her future husband at the Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 1977, where she was a scholar-athlete on the nationally ranked gymnastics team.

After competing in the 1979 World University Games in Mexico City, Nancy transferred to the California State University of Fullerton to continue her gymnastics career.

Nancy graduated from CSUF in 1981 as a 4-time All American gymnast.

She married Paul Stover in 1983 and moved to Fullerton in 1985.

Nancy gave her life to coaching, teaching and leading the next generation to the sport of gymnastics and the sport of life.

She was active in a variety of civic organizations such as Meals on Wheels and National Charity League, but Nancy’s talents and passion were most evident in areas where she made a difference in the lives of young people, teaching in the Fullerton School District, directing the gymnastics academy at CSUF and more recently, Wildfire Gymnastics.

Survivors include her husband, Paul; four children: Andrew, Abby, Maddy, and Bethany.

She is also survived by two brothers: Bruce Jones of Loveland, Ohio and Lee Jones of Parkesburg.

A celebration of life was held on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at the Fullerton First United Methodist Church.

Local services will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc. of Knox.
