FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – Franklin Elks Lodge will host a benefit dinner Friday for a local girl diagnosed with a rare cellular disease.

The dinner benefits 13-year-old Natalia Booth, of Marble, who suffers from Mitochondrial disease.

Mitochondrial disease is an inherited chronic illness that can be present at birth or develop later in life. It causes debilitating physical, developmental, and cognitive disabilities with symptoms including poor growth; loss of muscle coordination; muscle weakness and pain; seizures; vision and/or hearing loss; gastrointestinal issues; learning disabilities; and organ failure.

Natalie has undergone nine brain surgeries, seven lumbar neuro-surgeries, eighteen spinal taps, and eight bowel and digestive system surgeries. Her condition has resulted in hundreds of out-of-state doctor visits.

The dinner will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Franklin Elks Lodge, 1309 Buffalo Street, Franklin, Pa.

Cost of the dinner is $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students.

The fundraiser also features basket raffles, a 50/50 raffle, a gift wrapping station, a visit from Santa and more.
