Nathan GuterryNathaniel “Nathan” William Guterry, age 25, of Lexington Park, MD, formerly of West Sunbury was granted his angel wings on Sunday, February 19, 2017 as a result of a motorcycle accident.

Nathan was born June 12, 1991 in Butler, PA, the son of Matthew Anthony Guterry and Brenda Lynn McAnallen Guterry.

Nathan touched so many people in a powerful way throughout his short, yet very memorable life.

Nathan believed that each day was a blessing and a chance to make new memories. He loved life and was a constant reminder of the kind of person we all hope to be. Nathan was truly a gift to us left behind.

Nathan attended the Moniteau schools and graduated from Moniteau High School in 2010, where he was a member of the Gifted Opportunities and Advanced Learning Students Program, the football team and the track and field team.

He then went on to graduate from the University of Buffalo in 2014 with his degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering.

He had many great opportunities and made lifelong friends.

One of the many great experiences Nathan had while at UB was his opportunity to work with NASA on the Reduced Gravity Student Flight Opportunities program.

After graduation from UB, Nathan was offered a position with NAVAIR at the Patuxent River Naval Airbase in Maryland.

During his short time in Lexington Park he became a member of the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department.

Nathan is survived by his loving parents, Matthew and Brenda Guterry of West Sunbury; his brother Matthew Guterry and his wife, Tina, of Belle Vernon; his maternal grandparents, Claude and Alice McAnallen of Prospect; his paternal grandmother, Janet Guterry of Parker and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main Street, West Sunbury.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 Friday February 24, 2017 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. Saturday February 25, 2017 with Rev. Terry Sowden officiating

Burial will be in the West Sunbury Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department, 46900 S. Shangr-La Drive, Lexington Park, MD 20653.
