PITTSBURGH (EYT) — Crews from the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh are currently assessing damage in the region from the storms that wreaked havoc across several western Pennsylvania counties Monday.

Matthew Kramar, a meteorologist with NWS, said they had just surveyed tornado damage in Butler County north and west of Prospect.

“There was some damage where trees fell on top of trailer homes and vehicles and some roofs where shingles had been torn off. They were also uprooted, twisted and broken trees, but we’ve had no reported injuries,” Kramar said.

In a phone interview at 12:30 p.m., Kramar said they were wrapping things up with their work in Butler County and were going to be surveying storm damage in Clarion and Forest counties.

Strong winds and heavy rain Monday afternoon caused damage and resulted in at least two fires in Clarion County.
