Nearly $7,000 Stolen from Seneca Man in Phone Scam

alertCRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Franklin-based State Police said an incident of fraud occurred on State Route 257, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

Police say this crime occurred on January 21 as an unknown perpetrator called a 73-year-old Seneca man identifying himself as a representative from Microsoft Computer Repair.

According to police, the unknown perpetrator told the victim that the company overcharged for computer repair and asked for bank/credit card information to refund the money.

The total amount stolen was $6,675.00.
