Franklin Man Arrested Following DUI Crash on Liberty Street

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A Franklin man has been arrested following a DUI-related crash that occurred overnight on Liberty Street in Franklin.

Around 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, Franklin Police were dispatched to the area of the 1300 Block of Liberty Street for a reported motor vehicle accident. One vehicle was reported in the roadway at the time.

According to police, upon their arrival, the officers determined that the crash involved two vehicles, and one driver had fled the scene. A witness reported that a white male with a beard dressed in all black left the vehicle and climbed over a fence.

Police say officers were then able to locate 35-year-old Mark A. Boal, of Franklin, in the 1100 Block of Elk Street.

According to police, Boal admitted to drinking at an area bar before driving his vehicle and crashing into a parked car. He also allegedly stated he was scared because he was “very drunk” and his license was DUI suspended.

Boil was then arrested for DUI and transported to UPMC Northwest for chemical testing.

According to Franklin Police Department, Boal faces the following charges:

  • DUI Highest Rate
  • Driving While Suspended
  • Driving While DUI Suspended While DUI
  • Driving Without a License
  • Roadways Laned for Travel
  • Careless Driving
  • Reckless Driving
  • Leaving the Scene of an Accident
