According to Sugarcreek Borough Zoning Officer Larry Moyer, America’s Realty, LLC of Pikesville, Md., recently purchased the plaza that formerly housed Wendy’s and KFC and continues to house Dollar General, Big Lots and E. Chinese Buffet.

The purchase price was $1.2 million, according to Moyer.

“I talked to the project manager, Steve Verstandig of America’s Realty, LLC,” Moyer said. “They plan on opening the restaurant in the old Wendy’s building and they plan on tearing down the old KFC building.”

According to Moyer, the interior of the former KFC building is dilapidated.

“I guess there is mold inside,” Moyer said. “So, they are going to take it down.”

Moyer said he doesn’t know a time frame for when Las Margaritas will open.

“They have all their permits,” Moyer said.

As far as Moyer is aware, the other businesses at the location will remain.

America’s Realty, LLC was started by Carl Verstandig 30 years ago, according to the company’s website. It is a blue-collar shopping center acquisition firm that purchases in markets that support the middle class. Core tenants in many of America’s Realty, LLC’s building include Variety Wholesalers, trading as Roses Dept. Stores, and Maxway Stores, Dollar General, Food Lion, Home Depot, Giant Eagle, JC Penny, K-Mart, Advanced Auto Parts, Auto Zone, Peebles Department Store, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, Save A Lot, Cato Clothing and Ollie’s.
