OIL CITY, Pa. – The Oil City YMCA is strengthening families through a Korean Martial Arts Program. Tae Kwon Do is instructed my Master Asa Williams, a black belt instructor from Northwest Martial Arts, Inc and Chris Blauser.

The class is held every Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Oil City YMCA Multipurpose Room.

The entire family is welcome to participate in the class. Youth can begin the program when they turn age six, and all ages take the class together.

“This is a unique program that involves the entire family,” said Katie Port, YMCA Wellness Director. “We see youth, adults, and seniors enjoying this class every week. It offers something for a family to participate in together while developing a practical means of self-defense and improving overall fitness and self-confidence.”

Tae Kwon Do is the art of self-defense that originated in Korea. It is recognized as one of the oldest forms of martial arts in the world, reaching back over 2,000 years. The class teaches more than physical fighting skills. It is a discipline that shows ways of enhancing spirit and life through training our body and mind.

A new session of Tae Kwon Do will begin on Wednesday, October 3.  Classes run for six weeks per session. Sessions are reasonably priced at $22.00 for Members, $32.00 for Non-members.

A fall session of Tae Kwon Do is currently open for registration online at www.oilcityymca.org or at the YMCA member service desk.
