New Transportation Plan Helps Pave Route 38 in Venango, Clarion Counties

| July 25, 2014

Act 89, the state’s new transportation plan, is making possible a project beginning next week to resurface approximately 3.5 miles of Route 38 in Richland and Salem townships in Clarion and Venango counties.

Work will consist of milling, paving, drainage and guiderail updates. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane during work hours and will be controlled by flaggers. Minor delays are possible. Drivers need to remain alert and slow down while driving through work zones.

Work is weather dependent and the project is expected to be completed by early November.

Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., is the prime contractor on the $2,783,038 project, which will repave Route 38 from Emlenton Borough to Route 208.

Act 89, the legislation made possible by the bipartisan consensus reached by Governor Tom Corbett and the Legislature, will enable PennDOT to invest an additional $66.38 million to pave approximately 126 miles of roads this year in its five-county District 10 area of Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Indiana and Jefferson counties.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 680 traffic cameras. 511 PA is also available by calling 5-1-1, and regional Twitter alerts are available on the 511PA website.
