Nick James Trombetta

Nick James Trombetta, 63, of Shippenville, passed away at his home surrounded by family and friends after battling cancer for a short time on July 31, 2017. He was of the Catholic faith.

He was born on March 8, 1954 in Brookville, PA to James and Elaine (Verne) Trombetta. Nick attended Catholic school until eighth grade. He graduated from Brookville High School in 1972.

He earned degrees from Clarion State College and the University of Pittsburgh.

He spent many years as a rescue SCUBA diver and a paramedic.

Nick graduated from the Municipal Police Academy and worked for the Sykesville and New Bethlehem Police Departments.

The majority of his career was spent at the Clarion Borough Police Department where he was an officer for 22 years.

He received Officer of the Year in 2009. He loved police work and doing investigations. He retired in 2015.

Nick and Marcy were married June 15, 2002 and enjoyed spending time with their beloved dogs Harley and Deuce and their most recent addition to the family, Toby.

Nick enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, golfing, hunting, target shooting and working in his wood shop.

He also enjoyed building rifles and making golf clubs.

For many years, Nick was a member of Clarion Oaks Golf Club.

Nick is survived by his wife of 15 years, Marcy and dog, Toby; father-in-law, Robert Rupp, of Emporium; mother-in-law, Patricia Rupp, of Indiana; sisters-in-law, Tammy Balitski and husband Ken, of Indiana, Robin Troup and husband Ron, of Smicksburg, and Jennifer Watson and husband Jim, of Canonsburg; and his extended family, Dave and Renee Eggleton and family, of Strattanville, Rodney Simpson, of Corsica, and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elaine Trombetta, and his beloved pets Harley and Deuce.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Clarion-Forest VNA, 271 Perkins Road, Clarion PA 16214 (www.cfvna.org), or the Butler Cancer Center, One Hospital Way, Butler PA 16001 (www.bhsfdn.ejoinme.org).

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street in Clarion where visitation with Nick’s family will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Christian Wake service being held at 8:45p.m..

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, 715 Main Street, Clarion, with Father Monty Sayers officiating. Interment will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Clarion.
