While Bobcats (5-0, 3-0 KSAC Large School) won the game, they did lose star tailback Colton Rapp to an injury in the game’s first series.

But what Clarion lost in Rapp, it more than made up for with the Minich twins of Sam & Logan of North Clarion who combined to rush for 205 yards on 20 carries with a touchdown apiece.

“We used Logan at tailback and Sam at fullback, both of them had very good games,” said Clarion head coach Larry Wiser.

Logan’s 37-yard touchdown run in the second quarter gave the Bobcats the lead for good following a short two-play 48-yard drive, while Sam’s 41-yard scamper came immediately following a Warriors punt.

Clarion held a 20-7 lead at halftime.

Moniteau (2-3, 1-2) took the ball and the lead early when it marched 70 yards in eight plays with quarterback Chance Nagy scoring on a 2-yard run.

“Defensively it wasn’t our best game,” Wiser said. “I was a little shocked when they went right down the field. But we settled down after that and played well in our gaps.

Nagy left the game due to an ankle injury sustained late in the first half, and backup Hunter Fitzingo was intercepted twice by the Bobcats, who had three interceptions on the night, including one by Sam Minich.

Clarion tied the game on its opening possession as Spencer Miller threw a screen pass to Camden Boggess who took it untouched for a 30-yard touchdown.

The Bobcats put the game away with a pair of third-quarter scores.

Keeven Weaver’s interception at the Bobcat 35-yard line led to him scoring on a 21-yard run that capped an 11-play drive.

Miller scored from three yards out with 1:35 left in the third quarter thanks to Logan Minich’s big gainer of 47 yards earlier in the drive.

Brendan Zerfoss added a 24-yard fourth quarter touchdown for the ‘Cats.

Clarion outgained Moniteau by 300 yards – 444-144 – for the game.

“We played a great first quarter, but we have to play four quarters,” said Moniteau head coach John McCune. “It comes down to staying healthy and playing with heart.”

Manny McLean led Moniteau with 65 yards on 12 carries.

“Now we get ready for a short week and Redbank on Thursday,” said Wiser.
