Oil City Girls Race Past Rival Franklin

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – Oil City wasted little time in showing Franklin who owned the Oil Region this year outscoring the Knights 15-2 in the first quarter and 23-3 in the first half on its way to a 46-19 win Thursday night at Franklin.

Grace King led Oil City with 12 points and was one of eight Oilers to score.

“It was a great game with balanced scoring,” Oil City first-year head coach Maria Plumer said. “The girls started out flat but were able to recover.”

Gracie Felmlee and Anny Yeager each chipped in eight points for Oil City, while Jamie Stack had all seven of her points in the first quarter. Gabbie Plumber added eight assists and two points.

Karlie Hoffman paced Franklin with nine points, six of them from the free-throw line.

MONITEAU 52, HICKORY 32

HERMITAGE, Pa. – Emma Bair scored a career-high 18 points to go with seven rebounds, five blocks and five steals to help visiting Moniteau to a 52-32 win over Hickory.

Alazia Greaves added 17 points for the Lady Warriors who also got nine points and 10 rebounds from Kristina DeMatteis.

Hannah Crow paced Hickory with 13 points.

NEEDING 53 POINTS FOR 1,000, KANE’S BUCHEIT SCORES 56 IN WIN OVER YOUNGSVILLE

KANE, Pa. – Kane’s Andrew Bucheit needed 53 points going into Thursday’s home game with Youngsville to reach 1,000 in his career.

The Wolves senior scored 56, which ties for the most points in District 9 by a boys’ player since at least 1999 (Shane Goss of Cameron County also had 56 in 1999), to give him 1,003 for his career.

Kane beat Youngsville, 84-43.
