OIL CITY, Pa. – The Oil City Library has launched a new early literacy program called “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” that is specifically designed to give babies and toddlers the best start possible on lifelong reading and learning skills.

“1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” is an easy-to-follow program designed to help parents and children get in the habit of reading on a regular basis and to improve all-too-important language skills before they enter kindergarten.

The Oil City Library is trying to spread the message — that reading to babies and toddlers builds critical language and social-emotional skills and reinforces the bond between parent and child.
