OIL CITY, Pa. – A number of businesses in downtown Oil City are getting a facelift, thanks to the city’s Main Street Façade Improvement Grant Program that was launched earlier this year. The grant program provides limited matching funding for façade improvements to eligible downtown buildings, with the goal of enhancing the overall appearance of downtown Oil City.

To date, the Main Street Program has given the nod to $18,744 in grant funding to 10 projects that represent over $41,000 in façade improvements. Approximately $22,516 in façade projects have been completed so far this year, representing $11,202 in grant funds and $11,313 in private investment, including:

  • 8 State Street (Williams Travel): repair, repointing & cleaning of brick
  • 257 Seneca Street (Barr’s Insurance): new storefront sign & masonry work on Seneca Street; new awning & secondary sign on Elm Street
  • 247 Seneca Street (Telereach): awning replacement
  • 211 Seneca Street (Lydia’s Stitches): new storefront signage
