Oil City Main Street Program Participating in Week of Giving

| March 19, 2019

OIL CITY, Pa. – The Oil City Main Street Program, along with over 125 other nonprofits in Venango, Clarion, Forest and Jefferson counties, is participating in Bridge Builders Community Foundation’s Week of Giving this week.

This week, financial contributions made through www.bbcfgives.org can be allocated to the nonprofit group of one’s choice and will be boosted with matching funds from partners who have joined together with Bridge Builders Community Foundation, which spearheaded the philanthropic campaign.

The Oil City Main Street Program works to revitalize downtown Oil City through various improvement projects, promotional efforts, business support, and more with initiatives such as the “Best Dressed Windows” contest, Façade Improvement Grant Program, seasonal plantings, the popular “Oil City Uncorked” wine walks, the Oil City Farmers Market, downtown murals, “Music on the Square,” the Center Street Bridge Illumination, family-friendly public events such as BridgeFest and OCtoberFest, and others. Contributions made to the Oil City Main Street Program through the Week of Giving will help sustain the group’s mission of making downtown Oil City attractive and vibrant. The Oil City Main Street Program also now facilitates ARTS Oil City, an economic development initiative originally spearheaded by the City of Oil City in 2006 that has turned Oil City into a growing artist community.

“We are excited to participate in the Week of Giving again this year,” stated Kathy Bailey, Main Street Manager. “This campaign helps to create awareness for our program, and many other worthy nonprofits in our community, who are all in need of financial contributions in order to carry out our mission. It enables people to contribute to one or many nonprofits, in amounts small or large.”

A Week of Giving results press conference and celebration will be held Friday, April 5, at 10:00 a.m. in Oil City to announce the grand totals and distribute checks to each participating nonprofit. Special prizes will be awarded to the nonprofit with the most individual donations, the largest monetary amount of donations as well as the most creative and engaging Week of Giving marketing campaign.

Community outreach sponsors for the Week of Giving event include Explore Your Town LLC, which includes ExploreVenango.com, ExploreClarion.com and ExploreJeffersonPA.com media.

Donations can be given online at www.bbcfgives.org between 8:00 a.m. on March 18 and March 22 at 11:59 p.m. Online donors can select multiple nonprofits to give to within the same transaction, and also allocate varying contributions to each nonprofit selected.

Donors may also make contributions by check, payable to Bridge Builders Community Foundations, with Week of Giving and the intended organization’s name in the memo line. Checks must be received at the BBCF Oil City office at 206 Seneca Street by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, to be counted toward the Week of Giving and match pool.

Donations received through the Week of Giving event are fully tax-deductible under applicable federal and state laws.
