OIL CITY, Pa. — The Oil City Main Street Program’s Music on the Square concert series returns to Town Square on Thursday, June 20 with a 7:00 pm performance by the band Necessary Experience.

Necessary Experience has established a name with thousands of fans, playing over 2500 shows up and down the East coast and is described as a fun, full of energy band that plays everything from pop, funk, classic rock, reggae, and soul. The trio features musicians Matt Necessary (vocals, guitar), Ronnie Feroz (drums), Fred Colvin (bass, vocals) and Chris Novak (keyboards, vocals). Their newly released debut album “The Seed” is available at shows or can be downloaded from iTunes.

“Music on the Square is a great way to spend a weekday summer evening,” stated Kathy Bailey, Main Street Manager. “People have enjoyed the opportunity to visit our shops, eat dinner downtown and then walk over to enjoy the live music in the square.”

2019 Music on the Square events are planned for June, July, and August; the lineup includes Necessary Experience on June 20, Karaoke with Heather Schrum on July 11, and the Route 8 Band on August 8. A “bonus” event is also planned for Wednesday, July 24 (during the opening of the Oil Heritage Festival Art Show) featuring the Porter/Huber Jazz Quartet.

Music on the Square was spearheaded by the Oil City Main Street Program in 2015. Performances are held from 7:00-9:00 pm on event days in the center paved area of the Oil City Town Square, and are free and open to the public. Attendees may bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. Concerts are supported by the Jack Rowley Charitable Trust. For more information, contact the Oil City Main Street Office at (814) 677-3152 ext. 104.
