Oil City Man Accused in Domestic Incident Sentenced Up to One Year Behind Bars

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man accused of a domestic incident was sentenced to up to one year in jail.

According to court documents, on July 11, 27-year-old Eric M. Lawson, of Oil City, was sentenced to six to twelve months confinement in the Venango County Jail after pleading guilty in Venango County District Court to the following charges:

– Criminal Mischief-Damage Property, Misdemeanor 3
– Disorderly Conduct Engage In Fighting, Misdemeanor 3

The following charges were withdrawn:

  • Strangulation — Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Felony 2
  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
  • Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary
  • Driving Without a License
  • Driving While Operator Privilege Suspended Or Revoked

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 9:37 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, officers responded to a residence on Orange Street for a report of a physical domestic altercation.

Officers arrived at the scene and spoke to a known female victim who stated that Eric Lawson got into a physical altercation with her after she questioned him about where he was going, the complaint states.

Following an investigation, Lawson was arraigned at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, in Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office.

Lawson was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

According to court documents, Lawson’s was denied bail as he is a “danger to others, will not comply with any bail conditions or directives.”
