OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man who allegedly kicked a police officer in the head following a domestic dispute waived his preliminary hearing.

According to court documents, on Wednesday, April 18, the following criminal charges against 25-year-old Anthony Joseph Olon, of Oil City, were transferred to Venango County Court of Common Pleas:

– Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforcement, Misdemeanor 2
– Disorderly Conduct Engage In Fighting, Misdemeanor 3
– Criminal Mischief-Tamper With Property, Summary

He remains lodged in the Venango County Jail on $50,000.00 cash bail.

Case details:

According to a criminal complaint, around 6:40 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, Oil City Police officers were dispatched to a residence on Glenview Avenue for a report of a domestic dispute occurring outside the home.

Upon arrival, Patrolmen Ruditis and Rosenbarger parked on the street below the residence, and Patrolman Ruditis was able to hear yelling and screaming coming from the house. Once on the porch, the officers made contact with a man identified as Anthony Olon.

While Patrolmen Rosenberger and Webster spoke with Olon, Patrolman Ruditis made contact with a female inside the residence along with other individuals residing there. During Patrolman Ruditis’ contact with the individuals inside the residence, they told him the dispute was only verbal in nature. He inquired about the yelling and screaming inside the residence that could be heard from the road, and one of the individuals said Olon had been involved in a verbal dispute with his ex-girlfriend who also resides at the residence. The individual also said he yelled at Olon in an attempt to get him to calm down. The other individuals confirmed that during the course of the incident, Olan had frightened children who were also present inside the residence.

Patrolman Ruditis then went back to the porch to make contact with the other officers and Olon. Olon was then taken into custody for disorderly conduct. Patrolman Ruditis told Olon he would be transported to the Oil City Police Department.

According to the complaint, while officers were escorting Olon to the patrol car, Olon began “tensing up” and pleading with Patrolman Ruditis. Patrolman Ruditis used “hands-on force” to continue to escort Olon to the patrol vehicle. At the vehicle, Patrolmen Ruditis and Webster attempted to place Olon in the rear seat area, but Olon began tensing up and flailing his legs in an attempt to stop the officers from placing him in the vehicle, the complaint states.

The officers gave Olon multiple verbal directives to stop resisting, but Olon ignored the commands. Patrolmen Ruditis and Webster finally got Olon into the patrol vehicle with the assistance of Patrolman Rosenberger.

The complaint states that once Olon was in the vehicle, he began striking the window areas with his feet as well as his head. To stop him from damaging the vehicle or injuring himself, the officers removed Olon from the vehicle and placed him on the ground outside the vehicle while they waited for backup.

According to the complaint, Patrolman Rosenberger obtained a pair of leg shackles to help constrain Olon and stop any further violent behavior. While attempting to gain further control, Olon struck Patrolman Rosenberger in the head and face with his foot, causing Patrolman Rosenberger’s glasses to fall off and causing damage to his eyeglasses.

When other officers arrived, Olon was further secured, placed in a marked patrol vehicle, and transported to the Oil City Police Department.

Olon was arraigned at 9:10 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, in Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office.
