FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man is facing first-degree burglary and related charges after he allegedly entered a Franklin residence uninvited and assaulted a man.

Court documents indicate the Franklin Police Department filed criminal charges against 27-year-old Daniel Blaine Coxson, of Oil City.

According to court documents, around 6:36 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, Officer McConnell, of the Franklin Police Department, was dispatched to a residence located at 237 Liberty Street for an assault incident. Upon arrival, Office McConnell spoke to the male resident who indicated that his male friend was sleeping on his couch in the living room at the time of the incident.

The resident explained that he leaves his front door open because he has no air conditioning, and leaving the door open keeps his living room cool. According to the resident, Daniel Coxson and another individual entered his residence uninvited. The resident got out of his chair, and Coxson pushed him backward and then proceeded to punch and kick the male who was lying on the couch. The resident stated that he was not able to intervene prior to Coxson running off, the complaint states.

The resident said that he did not know of a reason for Coxson’s actions, the complaint continues.

Coxson was gone upon Officer McConnell’s arrival.

The victim refused medical treatment, and no injuries were observed, the complaint indicates.

According to the complaint, Officer McConnell spoke to Coxson on the phone at 7:45 p.m. Coxson denied taking part in this incident and stated that he works for a masonry company and leaves Franklin from Monday to Sunday and hasn’t been in Franklin all week.

Officer McConnell spoke to a relative of Coxson’s who lives in Franklin. The relative stated that Coxson had been at her house earlier in the day.

Based on the investigation, on September 25, the following charges were filed against Coxson in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office:

– Burglary — Overnight Accommodations; Person Present, Bodily Injury Crime, Felony 1
– Criminal Trespass-Enter Structure, Felony 3
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

Court documents indicate the status of Coxson’s case is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
