OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man was jailed after he allegedly punched his 88-year-old grandfather in the head during an incident on Friday.

Online court documents indicate the Oil City Police Department filed criminal charges against 24-year-old Kyle Garrett Dolan, of Oil City.

According to a criminal complaint, Venango County 911 received a call about a domestic incident around 9:49 a.m. on Friday, February 3, at Crestview Apartments, 710 Innis Street in Oil City.

While en route, officers learned that the argument was about a firearm, the complaint indicates.

The complaint states that Dolan punched his grandfather during a heated discussion, knocking him into some furniture and to the floor.

According to the complaint, the victim provided a statement to Oil City Police Chief Bob Wenner.

Oil City Patrolman Culp interviewed Dolan in an exterior hallway. He provided a similar statement, and “admitted to striking his grandfather in the head…with a closed fist,” the complaint states.

The victim asked to be checked by emergency medical technicians. He later was taken to the hospital by a privately-owned vehicle.

Dolan was arrested and arraigned before District Justice Andrew Fish on the following charges:

  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor (two counts)
  • Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

His bail was set at $25,000. He was placed in the Venango County Jail before his mother posted his bail.

Dolan’s preliminary hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. on February 8 in front of Judge Fish.
