OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – An Oil City man is facing charges after he allegedly stole items from a Colbert Avenue residence and then sold them on Facebook.

Court documents indicate the Oil City Police Department filed criminal charges against 44-year-old Jeffrey Scott Chrispen, of Oil City, in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office on January 18.

According to a criminal complaint, police were notified that Jeffrey Chrispen, removed property from a Colbert Avenue residence in Oil City and sold some of the items on Facebook.

The complaint states that Chrispen was given permission to enter the residence, but he did not have permission from the owners of the property to remove the items and sell them.

According to the complaint, Chrispen told Officer Labesky that he was removing the items from the residence to clean the place up with permission. However, he sold the items via the Facebook marketplace on January 17.

The residents of the property, who were not currently living there, stated that neither person gave permission for items to be sold, according to the complaint.

The following charge was filed on Friday, January 18, in Judge Fish’s office:

  • Theft By Unlaw Taking-Movable Prop, Misdemeanor 2

Chrispen faces a preliminary hearing before Judge Fish on Wednesday, February 13 at 8:30 a.m.
