| June 18, 2019

OAKLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) – An Oil City man is facing charges after he allegedly stole a wallet containing over $1,000.00 from an Oakland Township residence.

Court documents indicate the Franklin-based State Police filed criminal charges against 23-year-old Albert James Conway Myers, of Oil City, on June 13.

According to a criminal complaint, around 6:50 p.m. on April 30, a known female reported that Albert James Conway Myers stole her son’s wallet and all of the money inside.

According to the complaint, the woman said she had been noticing money being taken from her residence approximately six months prior and said she placed security cameras in the house. She noted that all of her children, and Albert Myers (her boyfriend), knew about the cameras. She also noted that the day before her son’s wallet went missing, all of the cameras were unplugged, but one of her sons plugged them back in.

The woman went on to state that she observed Myers take the wallet from her son’s room, and noted that Myers left earlier than usual and seemed distant that day.

The woman’s son was also interviewed and said he had his wallet on the nightstand near his bed when he went to sleep around midnight on April 29, then discovered the wallet was gone around 7:00 a.m. on April 30. He said that he counted his money each night before going to bed and stated he had ten $100 bills, one $20 bill, and two $1 bills. He reported that there was $822.00 in the main compartment and $200.00 in another compartment.

According to the complaint, he also noted he had caught Myers in his bedroom while he was sleeping before and told him to leave, and noted that he had also had money come up missing previously.

Myers was then interviewed on June 9. Police say Myers admitted to stealing the victim’s wallet on the morning of April 30, according to the complaint.

The complaint states that Myers told police he took $400.00 dollars and used it to pay for food and a place to stay. He went on to say he only found $400.00 in the wallet, but noted there “could have been more.”

Myers then allegedly disposed of the wallet by throwing it into a garbage can at a gas station in Seneca.

The following charges were filed against Myers at Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office on Thursday, June 13:

– Theft by Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 1
– Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 1

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17.

A certified summons was issued to Myers on June 13.
