Oil City Man Accused of Striking Neighbor’s Door with Sledgehammer

CORNPLANTER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – An Oil City man is facing criminal mischief charges after he allegedly struck the door of a residence in Cornplanter Township with a sledgehammer.

Franklin-based State Police say sometime between 4:30 a.m. and 4:50 a.m. on July 4, 36-year-old Jesse Wagner, of Oil City, allegedly ingested an undetermined controlled/uncontrolled substance at his residence located at 346 Petroleum Center Road then proceeded to travel on foot to 248 Petroleum Center Road.

Once at 248 Petroleum Center Road, Wagner struck the front door of the residence with a sledgehammer. Wagner also demanded to enter the residence for shelter because “he felt as though someone was chasing him,” according to police.

Wagner was taken into custody when state police arrived at the scene, but he was later released to EMS personnel for medical treatment.

Charges were filed on Wagner through Judge Fish’s office.

The victims were a 62-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman, both of Oil City.
