Oil City Man Accused of Threatening to Kill Boy with Knife, Assaulting Woman During Domestic Incident

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man is facing aggravated assault and related charges stemming from a Sunday morning domestic incident.

The Oil City Police Department arrested 24-year-old Robert Alexander Ross, of Oil City, after an investigation into a domestic dispute that occurred around 7:29 a.m. on Sunday, January 7, on West Sixth Street in the City of Oil City.

Through the investigation, Ross was found to have allegedly struck the female victim about the head or face area with a metal decorative-type object, according to police.

Ross also allegedly threatened the female victim, a known male, and a male minor child with bodily harm while being in possession of a knife, a hammer, and the metal decorative object.

Per information received from the victims, Ross was holding all persons inside the residence and not letting them leave by means of threats of bodily harm while in possession of the above-described weapons, according to police.

During the course of the incident, Ross also allegedly grabbed the minor child while in possession of the knife and threatened to kill the minor child in front of the female victim, police say.

Ross was also found to be in possession of an undisclosed amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police say.

He was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Ross was arraigned at 12:00 p.m. on January 7 in Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland’s office on the following charges:

– Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
– Unlawful Restraint of Minor/Parent — Risk of Bodily Injury, Felony 2
– Endangering Welfare of Children — Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Misdemeanor 1
– Unlawful Restraint/ Serious Bodily Injury, Misdemeanor 1 (two counts)
– Terroristic Threats W/ Int To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1 (three counts)
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2 (three counts)
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2 (three counts)
– Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact (three counts)
– Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia

Unable to post $75,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on January 17 in front of Judge Kirtland.
