SUGARCREEK, Pa. (EYT) – An Oil City man is facing charges following a pursuit last night in Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County.

Around 6:30 p.m., officers were conducting an aggressive driver detail near 2800 Allegheny Boulevard when they observed a vehicle operated by Cole J. Ghering, 19, of Oil City, traveling at 60 MPH in a 45 MPH zone.

The officer attempted to stop Ghering and he pulled off of Allegheny Boulevard before turning onto Third Street. He then traveled down Sloss Alley and pulled into a private drive.

The officer gave Ghering commands to stop and he fled on foot. Ghering’s passenger also fled, according to police.

Sugarcreek officers — with the assistance of Oil City Police Department — set up a perimeter and deployed Sugarcreek’s K-9 officer “Goose.”

“Goose” was able to track the passenger of the vehicle to a 2nd Street residence.

Ghering was then contacted and returned to the scene.

He was taken into custody and charged with fleeing and eluding, disorderly conduct, driving under suspension, and speeding.

Ghering was arraigned before District Judge Kirtland.

Bail was set at 5000.00 unsecured.

He faces a preliminary hearing on July 27 before Judge Kirtland.
