Oil City Man Busted for Selling Meth

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – An Oil City man is facing charges after he was caught selling methamphetamine to a confidential informant.

Court documents indicate the Oil City Police Department filed the following criminal charges against 29-year-old Alexander Edward Petkavich, of Oil City:

  • Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor
  • Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor

According to a criminal complaint, around July 3, 2017, Oil City Police Chief Robert Wenner and Patrolman Ruditis conducted a controlled purchase of methamphetamine from Alexander E. Petkavich utilizing a confidential informant (CI).

The complaint states that Petkavich was positively identified and the transaction was observed by officers. Following the transaction, the CI turned over to police a small plastic baggy with “8 ball” symbols which contained suspected methamphetamine that had been received from Petkavich.

The complaint notes that a narcotic field test of the substance yielded a positive result for methamphetamine.

Based on the investigation, Petkavich was arraigned at 2:50 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office.

Unable to post $10,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, with Judge Fish presiding.
