OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man has been displaced after a chimney fire at his home on Pearl Avenue Thursday night.

Oil City Fire Chief Steve Hinds reported that the home of Mark Pintal , 57, of Oil City, sustained moderate damage on the first floor and smoke damage throughout the residence. Pintal was not injured.

Hinds said it appeared the fire started due to faulty mortar in the chimney, which was attached to a wood burner in the basement, and allowed fire and sparks to ignite combustible material in the wall.
