CHERRYTREE TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say around 10:17 p.m. on August 15, a one-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 27 (Meadville Road), east of Henderson Lane, in Cherrytree Township, Venango County.

According to police, 40-year-old John T. Kennedy, of Oil City, was traveling west on SR 27 in the right lane and a deer entered the roadway from the south (left side).

Kennedy applied the brakes, and his 2003 Toyota Echo struck the deer at the 11 o’clock position, police say.

The car then traveled approximately 180 feet before coming to a controlled final rest on the right lane shoulder, according to police.

Kennedy was using a seat belt, and no medical assistance was requested, police say.

The car was towed by Shambaugh’s Towing.
