Oil City Man Flown to UPMC Presbyterian Following Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 322

PAINT TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police say a two-vehicle accident occurred last night on State Route 322, in Paint Township, Clarion County.

According to police, 21-year-old Brandon J. Cassidy, of Oil City, and 58-year-old Franklin D. Dinger, of New Bethlehem, were involved in the collision.

Police say this crash happened around 10:50 p.m., as a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon, driven by Cassidy, was traveling east on Route 322, just south of Kiser Wagner Road. Cassidy was negotiating a right curve in the roadway and failed to maintain the appropriate lane of travel. The Hyundai impacted Dinger’s 2005 Chevrolet Astro with its driver’s side portion in the westbound lane.

The Hyundai came to a final rest facing south in the eastbound lane.

The Chevrolet came to a final rest facing east in the westbound lane.

Cassidy was trapped in his car and had to be extricated. He was flown to UPMC Presbyterian and is listed in critical condition.

Dinger was not injured.

Both drivers were using seat belts.

Clarion and Shippenville EMS and Shippenville Fire assisted on the scene.

PennDOT assisted with clearing the roadway of debris.
